Recipes for Racial Justice
Project Description
Recipes for Racial Justice was a collaboration between Adobo-Fish-Sauce and I Learn America. We partnered with two high schools; Horace Mann School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Boston International Newcomers Academy, and created cohorts of students we called Poet-Chefs. These workshops were rooted in Adobo-Fish Sauce practices and led to the Poet-Chefs creating their own recipes - for cooking, for creation, and for eating. We then took those recipes and the format of our workshops and made it a public event. In The Park was born out of wanting to be outside after being in Zoom rooms for far too long. The public activation of our project welcomed art invitations alongside communal eating and reflective writing.

In The Park at Haley House is our premiere public activation for our project Recipes for Racial Justice, a year-long project supported and funded by community partners and grants awarded by City of Boston, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and New England Foundation For The Arts. An outdoor event where the air doesn't smell like a Zoom room.
