Project Description

Silvina Ibañez will create "The Paper Theater Project," a collaborative opportunity for the Latinx community to make everyday micro-stories visible. The project aims to create a space of radical imagination and expression, giving a voice to those who need to be heard. Two two-hour workshops will take place in which participants will: a) Co-create plots through story-telling techniques b) Design Paper Theater sets and paint/collage them c) Identify main characters and paint/collage them d) Perform and share their stories with their community Due to COVID-19 uncertainties, in-person, online, or both modalities for implementation will be offered. Basic art materials will be included, no previous experience with the arts is required, and languages spoken will include Spanish and English.

Artist Bio

Silvina Ibañez (she/her) is a visual artist with twenty years of experience. Her educational and professional career has focused on contributing to social change through art. Her expertise in a broad spectrum of art languages applied in creativity development has been the key to helping others connect themselves and their communities. Silvina has worked as an Art Specialist leading projects for International public agencies, non profit organizations, and private corporations. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts (UNA Argentina), a Master's degree in Visual Arts (UNAM – Mexico), and is a candidate for a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy at Lesley University. She has eight solo and seventeen collective exhibitions in art galleries and museums.
